Autonomous Drones Computer Vision Robotics AI

Overview

Competed in the A2RL Drone Racing Competition in Abu Dhabi, where drones race autonomously at over 110 mph with zero human control. As part of the Illini Aerial Robotics team advised by Professor Sayan Mitra, developed autonomous flight software for high-speed drone racing through a 12-gate racetrack. All computation happens onboard using NVIDIA Jetson computers with data from a monocular camera and IMUs—performance lives or dies in the code, as high-speed racing leaves no margin for software bugs.
